Hello,
I have a problem with a ford focus 2002 1.8 tdci 85kw F9DA, the older version with separate engine control unit and injection control unit.
It cranks but will not start, that has happened a few times over time and then it works ok but right now I can't get it to run. While cranking it barely tries to start and then continues to cranks without even trying again.
DTCs in ECU: P0251 (Injection pump fuel metering control A) and P1211 (Injector Control Pressure Not Controllable Pressure Above/Below Desired)
I check the fuel pressure during cranking it rises up to 800-900 bar.
The fuel rail pressure sensor was replaced, same. Hook up a mechanical gauge to the rail, the pressure does indeed rise to 800-900 bar, so the sensor is ok.
Checked wiring, voltage and then replaced the inlet metering valve on the Delphi HP pump, same.
Check injectors, maybe they are stuck and the pressure has nowhere to go since on this system only the IMV controls the pressure. Put them on a test bench, the injectors are ok. Hooked up an oscilloscope to the injectors, they get impulses from the ecu, but with the rising rail pressure the impulse width get shorter and shorter to correct the injection quantity.
Bad ecu?
Maybe im looking in the wrong place, maybe its the immobilizer. But the red led in front of the shirter goes off and stays off after a few seconds. What confuses me is that in the measurements in the immobilizer it says:
Control unit verify OK: NO
Immobilizer: Enabled
Vehicle Security Access Status: InProgres
Im not very familiar with PATS so i dont know if those values are to be expected.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
